  • よ at sentence end lightly asserts or shares information
05

ちょっと休憩にしようか。

Should we take a little break?

Literal A little break let's-make-it, shall we?

Section 4

Pattern of the day

One grammar move, explained once, that unlocks dozens of sentences.

Expressing Opinions with 〜と思う

Attach 〜と思う (to think / I believe) after the plain form of a verb or adjective to share your opinion. It softens statements and is far more natural than stating things as facts. Verbs and い-adjectives attach directly without だ: 面白いと思う. な-adjectives and nouns require だ before と思う: 好きだと思う. Common in everyday conversation, especially when recommending shows or sharing reactions.

[plain form verb / い-adjective / な-adjective + だ / noun + だ] + と思う

このドラマ、面白いと思うよ。

I think this drama is interesting.

続きを見たほうがいいと思う。

I think we should watch the rest.

このシリーズは最高だと思う!

I think this series is the best!

友達と見るともっと楽しいと思うよ。

I think it's more fun to watch with friends.
