Privacy Policy
Last updated May 31, 2026
This policy explains what PhraseBerry collects, why, and who processes it. We collect the minimum needed to run a daily language-learning app.
Data we collect
- Account: your email address and basic profile (name, avatar) from Google or GitHub when you sign in. We request only basic email and profile scopes.
- Learning content: the lessons you generate, your saved sentences and words, and your language preferences.
- Payment: if you subscribe, billing is handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number; we store only your subscription status and payment identifiers.
- Operational: a hashed form of your IP address for abuse prevention and rate limiting, plus basic server logs and generation cost/usage metadata.
How we use it
To authenticate you, generate and store your lessons, enforce fair-use limits, process subscriptions, send transactional email, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal data.
Processors and sub-processors
We share data only with the providers that run PhraseBerry:
- Vercel — hosting, analytics, and logs.
- Neon — PostgreSQL database storage.
- Stripe — subscription billing and payments.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Anthropic (and our configured AI provider) — lesson generation. Theme text you submit is sent to the model to generate a lesson.
- Upstash — rate-limit counters, if enabled.
Retention and your rights
We keep your data while your account is active. You can request export or deletion of your data at any time. Deleting your account removes your lessons, saved items, and preferences.
