Short reading

A tiny story stitched from today's words. Translation is hidden, tap to peek.

Durante el standup de esta mañana, Lucía informó que había terminado la integración con el sistema de pagos y que hoy iba a empezar con las pruebas. Carlos mencionó que tenía un bloqueo porque no podía acceder al entorno de producción, y le pidió ayuda al equipo de infraestructura. Ana comentó que iba a revisar el pull request de Carlos en cuanto tuviera acceso. Al final, el equipo acordó reunirse por la tarde para resolver las dependencias pendientes.

Sentence by sentence

había terminado la integración

she had finished the integration

Past perfect: haber (imperfect) + past participle — for actions completed before another past event.

hoy iba a empezar con las pruebas

today she was going to start on tests

Past-tense near future: ir (imperfect) + a + infinitive — reporting someone's plan from their perspective.

tenía un bloqueo

he had a blocker

Imperfect 'tenía' describes an ongoing state at the time of the stand-up.

le pidió ayuda al equipo de infraestructura

he asked the infrastructure team for help

The indirect object clitic 'le' is required before the verb even when the indirect object ('al equipo de infraestructura') is expressed explicitly; this doubling is standard in Spanish.

en cuanto tuviera acceso

as soon as she had access

'En cuanto' + imperfect subjunctive expresses a future condition relative to a past reference point.

acordó reunirse por la tarde

'Acordar + infinitive' = to agree to do something; 'por la tarde' = in the afternoon.
